With Mothering Sunday approaching it is a time to reflect on our own mothers or significant mother figure in our lives. Mums come in all shapes and sizes and different personalities but they all have one thing in common, they brought a new life into this world and hopefully have had the opportunity to also shape their Childs life in one way or another.
They have been there through all your celebrations and struggles, they know you inside out and upside down even if you think they don't. Your mum is someone who will be with you forever whether she is still here physically or has left this world to watch over you from some other heavenly plane.
Mothering Sunday is a time to be thankful for our mother and all the time and energy she has put into bringing us up, keeping us safe, secure and loved while proudly revelling in our successes. And when we have our own children and become mothers ourselves we eventually realise what a hard and unforgiving job it can be but the joy, the hugs and the pride you feel throughout your Childs life is more than any one person could ask.
You do not have to have given birth to a child to be a Mother, just look at Mother Theresa, and all the adoptive mothers who choose to bring up a child and put all their love and energy into making that Childs life happy and fulfilled, if that is not a mother then I don't know what is.
And how about the wonderful female aunties, cousins, friends, neighbours and colleagues who at times will all have helped smooth the road and brought countless smiles and giggles along with lots of hugs and kisses and most importantly being there when they are needed.
So let us thank all those beautiful ladies around the world who have helped to shape our lives and made this world seem a little brighter for having them in it.
Happy Mother’s Day to all xxx
